The Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) is a professional who understands the principles of evaluation and control of product and service quality. This course is designed to cover all modules of the American Society for Quality’s (ASQ) Body of Knowledge (BoK) for the Certified Quality Engineer’s examination.
The programme has two main aspects, quality management & systems and statistical methods. The standard required in statistics is equivalent to Six Sigma Black Belt Level. The programme includes material on both Lean and Six Sigma methods.

The primary objective of the programme is to empower the learner with the practical skills and knowledge required to be fully proficient as a professional quality engineer. At the end of the programme, participants will be fully prepared for the ASQ CQE examination. Learners will also have gained extensive knowledge of all aspects of quality management and statistical quality control.
The programme is suitable for quality, process, manufacturing and other engineers who already have significant experience in one or more areas of the CQE Body of Knowledge.
The course is based entirely on the ASQ’s CQE body of knowledge. The main modules of the CQE Body of Knowledge are as follows:
- Management and Leadership in Quality Engineering
How modern quality has evolved from quality control through statistical process control (SPC) to total quality management, successful use of teams, leadership principles.
- Quality Systems Development, Implementation, and Verification
Quality systems, documentation, standards (including ISO9001), quality auditing, cost of quality, quality training.
- Planning, Controlling, Assuring Product and Process Quality
Design, reviews, verification and validation, technical drawings (including Geometric Tolerancing)
- Reliability and Risk Management
Reliability, Maintainability, Hazard analysis, FMEA
- Product and Process Control
Control plans, material control and segregation, acceptance sampling, measurement and test, metrology, measurement system analysis
- Problem Solving and Quality Improvement
7 quality tools, 7 planning & management tools, continuous improvement, corrective action, preventive action
- Quantitative Methods
Data collection and analysis, quantitative concepts, probability distributions, statistical decision making, relationship between variables, statistical process control, process capability, design of experiment.
